1999
the gap

In this installation, the visitor triggers for action. A solid body casting a shadow is needed.

Ruthe Zuntz and Michael Reitz photographed scenes, objects and pieces of writing, overlapping them in a way that requires the visitor to uncover the stories. The duo wants visitors to create their own stories with the movements of their bodies.
This minimalistic interactive technique crosses the channels of light from two slide projectors and overlaps the projections. The result is a window of light. If visitors move between the screens and the projectors, they cast shadows of meaning on to the windows of light. Parts of photographs and snippets of texts appear within visitors' shadows.
